Gentle Dental Centre pride ourselves on being the gentlest dentists in Wellington. We provide a high standard of care in a relaxed and friendly environment. We treat our patients as we would like to be treated ourselves.
Formed in 1992 from a practice extending back to the 1930s, we're one of Wellington's leading dental practices. We have 6 highly trained NZ dentists and 2 university trained hygienists and two convenient locations.
In addition to the expertise we provide, we also have modern, state of the art resources to enable top quality results in all aspects of dentistry.
Gentle Dental Centre Team:
Dr Adam Benn BSc BDS (Otago) - Associate Dentist
Dr Benn delights in providing gentle dental solutions which are understandable, relatable and affordable. His treatments provide huge relief in people, as they usually help avoid toothaches, dental crises and tooth loss. As a self-described 'utter dental wimp' he always tries to provide the treatments as gently and painlessly as possible.
After graduating Otago in 1987 he went straight into private practice in Wellington. He practices all aspects of modern dentistry: painless anaesthetics, invisible white fillings, state of the art ceramics.
Dr Sam Moeung BDS (Otago) - Principle Dentist
Dr Moeung understand that most patients are apprehensive when coming to a dentist, which is why he tries to make each visit a pleasant experience.
He greaduated from Otago University in 1997, and has been practicing at Gentle Dental Wellington for over 10 years. He enjoys all facets of dentistry, but his special interest likes in endodontics (root canals), restoring badly broken down or heavily filled teeth using CEREC/E4D cad-cam technology, and replacing missing teeth. He regularly attends courses in both NZ and overseas so that he can deliver the best possible care to all his patients.
Dr Mike Tonkes BDS (Otago) - Principle Dentist
Dr Tonkes is passionate about what he does and treats his patients as he would like to be treated himself.
He graduated from Otago University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He then spent three years training with the Maxillofcaial Unit at Lower Hutt Hospital as their Dental Registrar and learned skills from simple extractions to fixing broken jaws.
He joined Gentle Dental Centre in 2002 as a valuable member of the clinical team. He believes in using his expertise with oral surgery, crown and bridgework, endodontics and invisalign to provide quality dentistry with a gentle touch.
In 2007 he was voted "Wellingtons Best Dentist" by listeners of The Breeze radio station.
